Is Sun dying ?
Type the sun.com URL in your browser and you'll see that it redirects to oracle.com . That's right people, Sun has been acquired by the even enormous company Oracle. A sad fact is that with the acquisition of Sun, Oracle has put its hands on the most popular relational database in the world, MySQL which is kind of open-source, a thing that might not appeal for a company that basically started (and still has a huge chunk) in the business of making databases.
I kind of feel sad that as the time will pass, people will forget about the Sun brand and easy to recognize logo which were basically sinonymous with IT development at the end of '90s.
An even sadder part is that this process of mergers and / or acquisitions cause the loss of famous brands such as the Exxon - Mobil, HP - Compaq and Symantec - Veritas.
The bright side is that new brands pop out more and more.
