That's right people, Sun has been acquired by the even enormous company Oracle. A sad fact is that with the acquisition of Sun, Oracle has put its hands on the most popular relational database in the world, MySQL which is kind of open-source, a thing that might not appeal for a company that basically started (and still has a huge chunk) in the business of making databases.
I kind of feel sad that as the time will pass, people will forget about the Sun brand and easy to recognize logo which were basically sinonymous with IT development at the end of '90s.
An even sadder part is that this process of mergers and / or acquisitions cause the loss of famous brands such as the Exxon - Mobil, HP - Compaq and Symantec - Veritas.
The bright side is that new brands pop out more and more.

Google Nexus One is here

Yesterday the software giant Google launched a new Android phone called the Google Nexus One. Made by the taiwanese company HTC, the Nexus One claims to belong for a new category of mobile phones called "smartphones". Although the new phone is better in specs than previous Android phones launched in reality it doesn't really seem to be a technical breakthrough as the iPhone was when first presented. Sure, it has a 5MP camera, a 1Ghz processor, support for MicroSD cards up to 32 GB and a gorgous screen the phone also lacks multitouch, at least for the moment and a physical keyboard (future models with same specs might have it). The real interesting thing that happend with the launch of the phone is that Google has made its own store where the Android phones can be sold and that you can buy the phone from the store either free or with a contract. At the moment the phone is available just in the US and a few other countries but as Google will make new partnerships with telecom providers the phone will be gradually available in many more countries. Google claims that the profit margins for Google on each unit sold is very low and that the real win is in the Google software provided with the phone. One very interesting app that can be used on the new Android phone (Android version 2.2 - so even newer than the Motorola Droid / Milestone) is the Google Earth app.
For the moment i'm glad that Google has managed to unite developers and companies to make competing products against Apple and i'm a little concerned about Nokia who is lagging behind with its Symbian OS.

You can browse the ads by tags and periods starting even from the 19th century. I personally like it because it's interesting to see how ads have evolved as the time passed.

In the latest annual ranking of Interbrand's top ranking brands, Coca-Cola, IBM and Microsoft still keep their positions as last year. I still can't understand though what IBM and Oracle and SAP do in this list because they don't have products for retail market which means that people don't have a direct contact with them. Even if they make a lot of money i really don't think that they should have any place in the top 100.

Well, it might be true and this is why in this article i want to explain a little bit about what brand2tag can do for you as a person or as a business.
For people

find new people that like the same stuff that you like
show directly on the web what you like
rate existing brands with words even if you don't have the respective brand added to your profile
comment on profiles, brand pages, pictures
lock your profile so that people can see it only if they add you as a friend
basic features that are found on every social networking website (upload pics, send messages, add friends etc.)

For businesses and / or websites

upload a logo for your business (only if you contact us and give us a link to a png with your company logo)
add a custom description for your logo
check similar brands

What we aren't
We don't want to be considered a social network. Really. I the future we will actually build apps that will integrate brand2tag in various social networks and also a Facebook Connect login system will be implemented.
